Frequently asked question
- What is CoReCG?
- Why CoReCG was created?
- What is unique about CoReCG?
- There are several features which makes CCRDB unique, to the best of our knowledge is the first collection of genes associated with CRC, which has been manually curated and gathered through published literature.
- The unique point of the database is the extensive literature survey, fine detail information, well networked with major resource databases and the single result page with option to see selective information which has been created after long discussions with clinicians and scientists.
- A user can find if his gene of interest is differentially expressed in colorectal cancer.
- CoReCG facilitates and is helpful in providing information about tumor suppressor genes that have been found in different biological process, mechanism in colorectal cancer.
- Does this database represent all genes associated with CRC?
- To whom can I report a bug or discrepancy?
- Can I submit my gene in CRCD?
- Can I use it for sequence analysis tools?
CoReCG (Colo Rectal Cancer gene Database) is a composite database and inclusive collection of the genes contributing to the etiology and pathogenesis of colorectal cancer. CoReCG consists of all the relevant colon-rectal genes from published literatures with an effective knowledge based information retrieval system.
Colorectal carcinoma is among the three most common malignancies reported worldwide with alarming numbers of incidence of 1234000 cases and 608000 fatalities worldwide. The highest rate of incidence in both the sexes was reported from Australian continent followed by Western Europe and North America. However, much rise in incidence of colon and rectal cancer has been observed in Indian subcontinent due to changing food habits, environmental conditions and lifestyle. Despite imperative advances in surgical techniques and adjuvant therapies in oncology, molecular diagnostic tools for colorectal carcinoma are still not very well established. The colorectal carcinoma is affecting both the sex hence it is not limited to specific sex, age or ethnicity. Being an internal organ the diagnosis of this disease is not easy and not affordable to the majority population of the third world country. CoReCG will serve researchers and clinicians a system to browse through and extract the basic and advanced information about the genes involved in Colorectal cancer.I t is further expected that availability and use of CoReCG will reduce the time and effort of scientists and clinicians to survey the literature on genes and their involvement in colon-rectal malignancy as a result can make further advances towards therapeutic solutions
This knowledgebase is the result of first round manual curation and we are continuously updating any new information we found.
