| 22246095    | 2011 | Cell line : - Source : Yokohama City Medical Center, Gastroenterological Center and Kanagawa Cancer Center. Sample Type : - No. of Sample : - Stage : - | RFLP-PCR | Polymorhpism | - | A/G Polymorphism of the MMP-7 Gene Promoter Region in Colorectal Cancer. High level of MMP7 positively correlates with clinical stage of malignancy and is a negative prognostic factor. A possible relationship between -181 A/G polymorphism of the MMP-7 gene and malignant transformation of colorectal epithelial cells and progression of colorectal cancer obtained. 184 patients and 205 healthy sample were included in this study. |
| 18636198    | 2008 | Cell line : - Source : Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center. Sample Type : - No. of Sample : - Stage : - | qRT-PCR | Up-regulation | - | MMP-7 and IGF-1R gene expression levels were higher in cancer tissue than in adjacent normal mucosa. Authors studied surgical specimens of cancer tissue and adjacent normal mucosa obtained from 205 patients with untreated colorectal carcinoma. |
| 19728912    | 2009 | Cell line : - Source : Cancer Center, Sun Yat-sen University. Sample Type : - No. of Sample : - Stage : - | Tissue microarray and immunohistochemistry. | Up-regulation | - | MMP-7 and survivin are related to the generation of colon cancer, and are independent factors for prognosis of colon cancer. MMP-7 were significantly higher in colon cancer than in normal colon mucosa. Clinical data of 620 colon cancer patients, treated in from January 1995 to May 2003, were analyzed. |
| 20680712    | 2010 | Cell line : - Source : - Sample Type : - No. of Sample : - Stage : - | Immunohistochemistry | Up-regulation | - | High expression of MMP7 was an independent prognostic factor of ER?-positive patients with colon cancer. High expression of MMP7 was related to decreased over all servival. Normal mucosa and tumoral tissues from 423 patients with stage I-III colon cancer were analysed. |
| 21696062    | 2011 | Cell line : - Source : Department of General and Colorectal Surgery of the Medical University in ??d?. Sample Type : - No. of Sample : - Stage : - | qRT-PCR, Immunohistochemistry | Up-regulation | - | DEFA5, DEFA6, MMP7, IL8 and SPP1 panel of genes aremvaluable panel of biomarkers, whose detection can be used in early detection and progressive disease and also in prognostic of colon cancer. Normal, adenoma, tumoral tissue collected from the same patient during surgery for a group of 20 patients. MMP7 is important in the transition from a benign to a malignant status and further in metastasis being a prognostic indicator for tumor transformation and for the metastatic potential of cancer cells. |
| 24425843    | 2014 | Cell line : - Source : Pietro Valdoni Department of Surgery, Sapienza University of Rome Sample Type : - No. of Sample : - Stage : - | immunohistochemistry, ELISA and western blotting | Up-regulation | - | MMP7 increases with dysplasia and cancer disease stage in tumour tissue as well as in the regional lymph nodes. It may be used as a complement in investigating suspected locally advanced cancer. Sample size: 28 patients surgically-treated for benign and malignant colorectal tumours . |
| 25060179    | 2014 | Cell line : - Source : - Sample Type : Serum sample No. of Sample : 430 CRC patients and 357 healthy subjects Stage : - | Meta-analysis | Up-regulation | - | Serum levels of MMP-7 could be an independent biomarker for CRC patients. Increased serum level of MMP-7 may be connected with the development of CRC |

| Gene Family | - |
| Description | Proteins of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes, such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes, such as arthritis and metastasis. Most MMP's are secreted as inactive proproteins which are activated when cleaved by extracellular proteinases. The enzyme encoded by this gene degrades proteoglycans, fibronectin, elastin and casein and differs from most MMP family members in that it lacks a conserved C-terminal protein domain. The enzyme is involved in wound healing, and studies in mice suggest that it regulates the activity of defensins in intestinal mucosa. The gene is part of a cluster of MMP genes which localize to chromosome 11q22.3. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]   |
