Flow cytometryUnknown-Treatment of HCT116 cells with MHY-449 resulted in growth inhibition and induction of apoptosis in a concentration-dependent manner, and inhibition of proliferation in a time-dependent manner.

The induction of apoptosis was observed by decreased cell viability, DNA fragmentation, activation of protein levels involved in death receptors.

MHY-449 induced G2/M phase arrest in the cell cycle progression and decrease cyclin B1 expression and its activating partners Cdc25c and Cdc2.

Gene Type protein coding
Gene Family Protein tyrosine phosphatases / Class III Cys-based PTPs, Serine/threonine phosphatases / Protein phosphatase 1, regulatory subunits
Description This gene is highly conserved during evolution and it plays a key role in the regulation of cell division. The encoded protein is a tyrosine phosphatase and belongs to the Cdc25 phosphatase family. It directs dephosphorylation of cyclin B-bound CDC2 and triggers entry into mitosis. It is also thought to suppress p53-induced growth arrest. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene have been described, however, the full-length nature of many of them is not known. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
