| 18794899    | 2008 | Cell line : SW 480, DLD 1, U 2OS-shRb ,Saos 2-TR-E2F1 Source : - Sample Type : - No. of Sample : - Stage : - | Fly stocks, transgenes, and genetic crosses, Cell Culture and Gene Transfer, Luciferase Reporter. | Down-regulation | - | E2F1 deregulation suppresses beta-catenin activity in an APC/GSK3 -independent manner, reducing the expression of key beta-catenin targets including c-MYC. E2F1 activity is also repressed by CDK8, a colorectal oncoprotein. Inhibition of CDK8 combined with the activation of E2F1, may be useful to target cancer cells that are driven by deregulated beta-catenin activity. |
| 22688350    | 2012 | Cell line : - Source : - Sample Type : CRC tumor and Normal tissue No. of Sample : 100 Stage : - | Immunohistochemistry, serial section analysis for kinetics study. | Down-regulation | - | E2F1 and E2F4 expressed nuclear immunopositivity in all 100 cases. A mutually exclusive immunostaining pattern between E2F1 and E2F4 and a direct correlation of E2F1 and apoptosis were also observed. The inverse immunohistochemical relationship between E2F1 and E2F4 indicates a possible mechanistic interlink in colorectal cancer. |

| 22241525    | 2012 | Cell line : HT 29, HCT 116 Source : - Sample Type : - No. of Sample : - Stage : - | - | Down-regulation | - | let 7e and miR-17 were initially upregulated and than downregulated in advanced CRC cancer in HT29 and HCT116 cell line and both miRNA targets E2F1 gene. E2F1, an upstream regulator of TP53. |
| 22327218    | 2012 | Cell line : U 2OS, C 33A, MCF 7, HCT 116, SAOS 2, HeLa, H 1299 Source : - Sample Type : - No. of Sample : - Stage : - | Transfection, SiRNA , Flow cytometry,Proliferation rate determination using Hemocytometer. | Methylation | - | E2F-1 is methylated in tumour cells, and a reduced level of methylation is evident under DNA damage conditions that allow E2F-1 stabilization and give rise to apoptosis. Arginine methylation regulates the biological activity of E2F-1 activity, and raise the possibility that arginine methylation contributes to tumourigenesis by influencing the E2F pathway. |
| 20812030    | 2011 | Cell line : Caco 2 Source : - Sample Type : - No. of Sample : - Stage : - | Cell culture and SiRNA transfection, Quantitative DNA fragmentation assay, Caspase assay. | Unknown | - | Upregulation of E2F1 and p73 increased the expression of Siva and PUMA, respectively and promote Nutlin-3 induced caspase-3 activation. The knockdown of E2F significantly decreased Siva-1 expression and decreased caspase-3 activation in response to Nutlin-3. Nutlin-3 induced apoptosis by increasing the p73- and E2F1-mediated expression of BH-3 only family proteins. |

| Gene Family | - |
| Description | The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the E2F family of transcription factors. The E2F family plays a crucial role in the control of cell cycle and action of tumor suppressor proteins and is also a target of the transforming proteins of small DNA tumor viruses. The E2F proteins contain several evolutionally conserved domains found in most members of the family. These domains include a DNA binding domain, a dimerization domain which determines interaction with the differentiation regulated transcription factor proteins (DP), a transactivation domain enriched in acidic amino acids, and a tumor suppressor protein association domain which is embedded within the transactivation domain. This protein and another 2 members, E2F2 and E2F3, have an additional cyclin binding domain. This protein binds preferentially to retinoblastoma protein pRB in a cell-cycle dependent manner. It can mediate both cell proliferation and p53-dependent/independent apoptosis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]   | Chromosome | 20 |
