RT-PCR, Immunohistochemistry, Western blot analysis.Down-regulation-In colorectal cancers expressed LPA1 mRNA at a significantly lower level as compared with normal tissues.

LPA receptor expression might be an important event in the development of colorectal cancer.

26 colorectal cancers and 16 corresponding normal tissue samples were included.

Gene Type protein coding
Gene Family GPCR / Class A : Lysophospholipid receptors : Lysophosphatidic acid
Description The integral membrane protein encoded by this gene is a lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) receptor from a group known as EDG receptors. These receptors are members of the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily. Utilized by LPA for cell signaling, EDG receptors mediate diverse biologic functions, including proliferation, platelet aggregation, smooth muscle contraction, inhibition of neuroblastoma cell differentiation, chemotaxis, and tumor cell invasion. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified for this gene [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
