| 22863622    | 2012 | Cell line : - Source : The Jackson Laboratories, Rosa-Notch1 mice (a gift from D. Melton, Harvard Stem Cell Institute, Harvard University, Boston, Massachusetts, USA). Sample Type : Mouse model No. of Sample : - Stage : - | Immunohistochemistry, In situ hybridization, Microarray analysis, Western blot and RT-PCR analyses. | Chromatin modification | - | Notch both suppresses tumor progression and enhances tumor initiation. |
| 18777195    | 2009 | Cell line : - Source : - Sample Type : CRC tumor and normal tissue No. of Sample : 237 colorectal cancer samples with matched adjacent normal tissues and a series of 46 normal colorectal specimens Stage : TNM Stage I-IV | Immunohistochemistry, real-time polymerase chain reaction, and Western blotting | Up-regulation | - | Notch1 expression correlated closely with colorectal cancer and may play an oncogenic role during colonic carcinogenesis. |
| 20058190    | 2010 | Cell line : - Source : - Sample Type : CRC tumor and normal tissue No. of Sample : 223 colorectal cancer and adjacent tissues Stage : TNM Stage I-IV | Immunohistochemistry, Kaplan-Meier and Cox proportional-hazards regression. | Up-regulation | - | Notch1 might serve as a novel prognostic marker that is independent of, and additive to, the TNM staging system. |
| 21378202    | 2011 | Cell line : - Source : Xijing Hospital of Digestive Diseases and Tianjin Union Medicine Centre. Sample Type : Case control study No. of Sample : 1003 CRC patients Stage : - | Immunohistochemistry | Up-regulation | - | Notch1 and Notch2 may be independent adverse prognostic predictors for patients with colorectal cancer. Notch1 and Notch2 were proved to be inversely correlated with tumor differentiation, depth of invasion, lymph node metastases, distant metastasis. Notch 1 positive CRC patient show poor survival. |
| 21771876    | 2011 | Cell line : - Source : Colorectal Cancer Registry, Tianjin Union Medicine Centre. Sample Type : CRC tumor and normal tissue No. of Sample : 941 Stage : - | Tissue microarray, immunohistochemistry | Up-regulation | - | Notch1 is an independent predictor of prognosis for patients with colorectal cancer. Targeting Notch1 and nuclear factor Kappa B (NF-kappa B) might be a promising strategy for colorectal cancer treatment. |
| 24312514    | 2013 | Cell line : - Source : Second Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University, China Sample Type : - No. of Sample : 220 patients with ulcerative colitis, 232 patients with colorectal adenoma and 449 patients with colorectal cancer Stage : - | Immunohistochemistry | Up-regulation | - | Expression level of Notch1 was gradually increased from precancerous lesions to cancer. It might play as an oncogene in the CRC development, and might be potentially used as a biomarker for prognosis of CRCs. Colorectal cancer patients with high expression levels of Notch1 showed lower overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) rates than those patients with low Notch1 expression. |

| Gene Family | Ankyrin repeat domain containing |
| Description | This gene encodes a member of the Notch family. Members of this Type 1 transmembrane protein family share structural characteristics including an extracellular domain consisting of multiple epidermal growth factor-like (EGF) repeats, and an intracellular domain consisting of multiple, different domain types. Notch family members play a role in a variety of developmental processes by controlling cell fate decisions. The Notch signaling network is an evolutionarily conserved intercellular signaling pathway which regulates interactions between physically adjacent cells. In Drosophilia, notch interaction with its cell-bound ligands (delta, serrate) establishes an intercellular signaling pathway that plays a key role in development. Homologues of the notch-ligands have also been identified in human, but precise interactions between these ligands and the human notch homologues remain to be determined. This protein is cleaved in the trans-Golgi network, and presented on the cell surface as a heterodimer. This protein functions as a receptor for membrane bound ligands, and may play multiple roles during development. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]   |
