| 11381362    | 2001 | Cell line : H T29 19A, HT 29 16E Source : - Sample Type : - No. of Sample : - Stage : - | Immunohistochemistry, Western blotting | Down-regulation | - | Immunohistochemistry showed downregulation of caspase 7 (22 of 26 cases) in colonic cancer samples compared with normal mucosa on the same tissue section. Caspase 7 deficiency thus appears as a new immunohistochemical marker of colonic neoplasia; its correction represents a potential basis for new therapies. |

| 12970753    | 2003 | Cell line : - Source : - Sample Type : CRC tumor and Normal tissue No. of Sample : 98 CRC and 50 GC Stage : - | Mutation analysis by PCR. | Mutation | - | We detected CASPASE-7 mutations in two of 98 colon carcinomas. Iinactivating mutations of the CASPASE-7 gene might lead to the loss of its apoptotic function and contribute to the pathogenesis of some human solid cancers. |
| 20567846    | 2010 | Cell line : - Source : - Sample Type : CRC tumo No. of Sample : 377 Stage : - | Genotyping | Polymorhpism | - | The RIPK1 and CASP7 polymorphisms can be considered as possible prognostic markers for survival after curative resection in patients with colorectal cancer. The RIPK1 rs2272990 in a dominant model and the CASP7 rs2227310 in a recessive model of the minor allele were associated with survival in a log-rank test. |
| 22500158    | 2012 | Cell line : - Source : Kyungpook NationalUniversityHospital(Daegu,Korea). Sample Type : - No. of Sample : 218 colon cancer, 179 rectal cancer Stage : TNM Stage I - IV | RT-PCR genotyping | Polymorhpism | - | None of the 10 polymorphisms in the CASP genes investigated in this study was found to be an independent prognostic marker for Korean patients with curatively resected colorectal cancer. In a previousstudy by Yoo et al. [17],significant associations between the CASP7 rs2227310 andCASP9 rs4645981 polymorphisms and prognosis were found in 411Korean patientswith early stageNSCLC. It remains to be elucidated whether or not the CASP7 rs2227310C?G polymorphism itself affects protein characteristics ,interactionsites, or protein solubility or stability, this polymorphism was associated with poor survival outcomes for patients suffering with NSCLC. |

| Gene Family | Caspases |
| Description | This gene encodes a member of the cysteine-aspartic acid protease (caspase) family. Sequential activation of caspases plays a central role in the execution-phase of cell apoptosis. Caspases exist as inactive proenzymes which undergo proteolytic processing at conserved aspartic residues to produce two subunits, large and small, that dimerize to form the active enzyme. The precursor of the encoded protein is cleaved by caspase 3 and 10, is activated upon cell death stimuli and induces apoptosis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, May 2012]   | Chromosome | 10 |
