| 24503701    | 2014 | Cell line : - Source : Department of Anatomical Pathology, Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney Sample Type : Case control study No. of Sample : 1421 Stage : - | Immunohistochemistry | Up-regulation | - | Myc status as determined by IHC alone can be used to predict overall survival in patients with CRC undergoing surgical resection. MYC over-expression was found in 980 (69%) of CRCs and was associated with tumor stage and DNA mismatch repair/BRAF status. |
| 23613397    | 2013 | Cell line : - Source : - Sample Type : Parafin embeded CRC tissue sample No. of Sample : 60 Stage : - | Microarray, Immunohistochemistry | Up-regulation | - | c-MYC overexpression is correlated with progressive disease - due to colon adenocarcinoma dedifferentiation - inhibition of its activity combined with h-TERT regulated expression is a new target for novel therapeutic regimens. |

| Gene Family | Basic helix-loop-helix proteins |
| Description | The protein encoded by this gene is a multifunctional, nuclear phosphoprotein that plays a role in cell cycle progression, apoptosis and cellular transformation. It functions as a transcription factor that regulates transcription of specific target genes. Mutations, overexpression, rearrangement and translocation of this gene have been associated with a variety of hematopoietic tumors, leukemias and lymphomas, including Burkitt lymphoma. There is evidence to show that alternative translation initiations from an upstream, in-frame non-AUG (CUG) and a downstream AUG start site result in the production of two isoforms with distinct N-termini. The synthesis of non-AUG initiated protein is suppressed in Burkitt's lymphomas, suggesting its importance in the normal function of this gene.   | Chromosome | 8 |
