| 20812987    | 2010 | Cell line : - Source : Nanfang Hospital tumour tissue bank. Sample Type : - No. of Sample : 150 CRC patients Stage : - | 2-D Gel electrophoresis, and mass spectrometry,Western blotting, Immunohistochemistry | Down-regulation | - | This gene differentially expressed in between normal colorectal tissue and colorectal cancer tissue experiment done by 2-D Gel eclectrophotesis In total, 150 patients were involved in the study. |
| 22807066    | 2012 | Cell line : - Source : - Sample Type : CRC tumor and normal tissue No. of Sample : 93 CRC, 41 advanced adenomas, 137 adenomas, 47 non-adenomatous polyps, and 158 normal Stage : TNM Stage I-IV | Immunoblotting and Histochemical Staining,Real-Time PCR,Cell Proliferation Assay,Cell Migration Assay. | Up-regulation | - | PKM2 might be a potential therapeutic target for CRC.Expression of PKM2 was increased in CRC and the increased PKM2 expression was associated with later stage and lymph metastasis of the tumors. |
| 24686087    | 2014 | Cell line : - Source : Offenbach Municipal Hospital Sample Type : CRC tumor and normal tissue No. of Sample : 96 study participants (33 patients with colorectal cancer, 21 patients with rectal carcinoma and 42 controls) Stage : - | real time RT-PCR,Western blotting, mutagenesis and cell transfection,Wound healing assay,Cell adhesion assay, Pyruvate kinase assay | Up-regulation | - | PKM2 overexpression promotes CRC cell migration and cell adhesion by regulating STAT3-associated signalling and that PKM2 may serve as a therapeutic target for CRC metastasis. |
| 22737276    | 2012 | Cell line : RKO, SW480, HT29 Source : Department of Surgery, Affiliated Zhongshan Hospital of Fudan University. Sample Type : CRC Tumor and adjescent tissue No. of Sample : - Stage : - | ELISA | Up-regulation | - | Serum M2-PK can be used as a primary screening test in CRC mass screening. It may be a promising non-invasive biomarker for CRC early detection. Average serum M2-PK (U/mL) was 14.75 among stage III and 13.10 among stage I and II CRC patients, about 4 times higher than that among normal people. |
| 17109496    | 2006 | Cell line : DLD1 Source : ATCC Sample Type : - No. of Sample : - Stage : - | ELISA | Up-regulation | - | Fecal tumor M2-PK is an appropriately sensitive tool to pre-select those patients requiring colonoscopy for the further diagnostic confirmation or exclusion of colorectal cancer. Colorectal tumors were accompanied by a highly significant increase (P < 0.001) in fecal tumor M2-PK levels (median: colon carcinoma, 23.1 kU/L; rectal carcinoma, 6.9 kU/L; colorectal carcinoma, 14.7 kU/L), which correlated with Duke's staging and T-classification |

| Gene Family | - |
| Description | This gene encodes a protein involved in glycolysis. The encoded protein is a pyruvate kinase that catalyzes the transfer of a phosphoryl group from phosphoenolpyruvate to ADP, generating ATP and pyruvate. This protein has been shown to interact with thyroid hormone and may mediate cellular metabolic effects induced by thyroid hormones. This protein has been found to bind Opa protein, a bacterial outer membrane protein involved in gonococcal adherence to and invasion of human cells, suggesting a role of this protein in bacterial pathogenesis. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding a few distinct isoforms have been reported. [provided by RefSeq, May 2011]   | Chromosome | 15 |
